He was predeceased by: his parents, Phil Gowen and Bette Gowen; and his brothers, Charles (Chuck), David, Pete and Rick.

He is survived by: his sister Linda Gowen; his sister-in-law Jean Emery; his niece Cheri Tonova; and his nephew John Emery. He is also survived by many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
