He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Payea and Loretta Payea (Hammond); and his daughter Brenda Lee Provost. He is survived by: his wife Theresa; and his children, Steve Payea (Joanne) of Florida, Joe, Jr Payea (Laurie) of Pennsylvania, Greg Payea (Wendy) of Vermont Jim and Jeannie St Peter of Vermont. He is also survived by 27 Grandchildren, as well as 31 Great Grandchildren.
