He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Courtemanche; his children, Philip Gates (Carol) of Derby, VT, Timothy Gates (Joan) and Karen Gates Farnsworth of Northfield, VT; and his siblings, Jean Brockway and Thomas Gates of New Jersey. He is also survived by four grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
