It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jean Gates Brockway of White River Junction, Vermont, born in Sharon, Vermont, who passed away on January 11, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Gates and Maude Gates (Lannen); her husband John; her son Robert Hathorn; and her siblings, Elsie Sides, Edna Steward, Beatrice Griswold, John and Beecher Gates.
She is survived by: her former spouse Byron Hathorn; her brother Tom Gates of Teaneck, NJ; her children, Byron C. Hathorn, Jr. (Scooter) of Ely, VT, Patricia Wall (Bill) of Riverhead, NY, Roberta Duval (John) of New Bern, NC and Mary Shave (Paul) of Sittee River, Belize; her stepdaughter Mary Martin (Jeff) of East Corinth, VT; and her grandchildren, Lily Chard (Hathorn), Whitney Hathorn, Ali Brandt (Hathorn), Jeff Gaudette, Chris Gaudette, Nikki Fortier (Duval), John Duval, Greg Duval, Jeremy Hathorn and Jacob Hathorn. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many treasured nieces and nephews.
