He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Andrew Nielsen and Magdaline Nielsen (Peters); his wife Barbara Ann Wells; his children, Mark Nielsen (Laurie) and Paula Gay Nielsen Adams (Dennis); and his great grandchildren, Amelia Nielsen, David Sweet III, Natalia Sweet, James Ferander, Ethan Ferander, Aaron Ferander and Alice Ferander.
