He is survived by: his wife Kay; his children, Dirk Jay (Carole Smits), Jennifer (Jim Anair), Amy (Tim Godard), Garrit Smits, Arie Smits and Gabriel (Jane Smits); his grandchildren, Noah Smits, Adrienne Smits, Annika Smits, Margaret Smits, Olivia (Jack Barton), James Anair, Amelia Anair, Wesley Dirk Anair and Claude Godard; and his siblings, Bernard (Lillian Smits), Antje (Jake Haaijema), Josephine (Jon Bigelow) and Billy (Joanne Smits).
