He was predeceased by: his parents, Neal Allen and Bertha Allen (Conley); and his siblings, Calvin Allen, Everett Allen, Robert Allen, Linda Toomey and Mattie Hale.
He is survived by: his son Joseph M. Allen (Christal); his siblings, Carol Downing (Martin), Neal Allen, Jr., Rodney Allen, Roland Allen (Charlda) and Paula Nutting; his grandchildren, Kodie, Temperance and Gideon Allen; and his brothers, Ethan Broome and Eric Broome. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
