He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph D. Hewitt and Natalie Hewitt (Miller). He is survived by: his wife Fifi Hewitt (Shapland) of Plattsburgh; his son Jason "Joe" D. Hewitt Jr. (Mary) of Swanton; his grandchildren, Jacob, Jennifer and Justin; his daughter Natalie Blyth (Gordon) of Oakura Taranakl; and his grandchildren, Johanna (Kevin Mitchell) and Alex (Carly Blyth). He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
