He was predeceased by: his wife Hope Bates; and his siblings, Robert, Ronald, Kenneth, Dean Bates, Mary Swane, Barbara Dalto and Shirley Disorda.
He is survived by: his daughters, Darcy Sawyer (Robert) of Rutland and Kathi Broadwell (Ronny) of Conway, SC; his sister Dolores Rodrique of Rutland; his sisters-in-law, Anne Bates of Rutland and Dorothy Thompson of Sunderland; his grandchildren, Cara Broadwell of Rutland, Katelyn of Rutland, Robert of Rutland, Kristi Sawyer of Rutland and Nicole Broadwell of Conway; his great grandchildren, Taylor Hope Broadwell of Conway, SC and Tayden LaMoria of Rutland; his great-nephew James Cain; and his pet Callie. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
