Joan Raftery Austin Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Raftery Austin of Orleans, Vermont, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 17, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Bob Bennett and Kitty Bennett; and her children, James Raftery III, Robert Raftery and Molly Raftery.
She is survived by: her husband Larry Austin; her daughter Kathryn Raftery; her grandchildren, Olivia and Ansel; her children, Chesley Austin (James Peverill) and Derek Austin (Jenn); her grandchildren, Chessa, Riley, Lyla and Grace; her sister Karen Bennett; and her niece Amelia Woodard.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family and if desired, memorial contributions in Joanie's honor may be made to the Nature Conservancy at nature.org, an organization that Joanie and her family have directly benefited from through protection of land and trails around Long Pond in Westmore.
