He was predeceased by: his son Douglas; his mother Effie; and his siblings, Raeburn, Irene, Keith, John and Pat MacDonald.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Stafford; his son Bruce; his daughter-in-law Karen; his grandson Asa MacDonald; and his niece Heather MacDonald Shaughnessy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Island Pond Historical Society or the Central Vermont Humane Society.
