He was predeceased by: his former wives, Bethany Lincoln and Suzanne Stone; his brother Paul R. Lincoln; and his niece Katherine Lincoln. He is survived by: his parents, Paul Revere and Dorothy Lincoln (Gray); his uncle Solon Gray; his spouse Suzanne Stone of Montpelier; his children, Marybeth Lincoln of Amherst, John "Jay" Lincoln Jr. of Westford, Joanna Ramsgaard of Denmark, Alyson "Aly" McHugh of Montpelier and Amy Lincoln Moore of East Montpelier; his sister-in-law Mary Ann Lincoln; and also Paul Lincoln. He is also survived by four stepchildren, 11 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter.
