She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Sherman and Katherine Sherman of Duxbury; her aunt Barbara McGrath; and her husband Duane Straw. She is survived by: her children, Daryl Straw (Michele) of South Burlington, Doreen Kadric (Mumin) of Ferrisburgh and Anne Straw (Jeremy Gibson) of Indianapolis, Indiana; her grandchildren, Natalie Straw, Samir, Jacob and Gabriel Kadric; and her siblings, Rebecca Green (Burton) of Duxbury, Rodney Sherman (Patricia) of Duxbury, Gladys Noel (Albert) of Middlesex, Constance Sherman Dolloff of Northfield, Ronald Sherman (Mary) of Duxbury, Theresa Marshall (Roy) of Waterbury Center, Kathryn Grace (Robert) of Waterbury and Howard Sherman (Denise) of Myrtle Beach.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Rachel's name to the Alzheimer Association of Vermont.
