He was predeceased by: his parents, Norris Hartwell and Adeline Hartwell; his sisters, Ruth Smith (Tom) and Ginny Bunting; and his son-in-law Howard Spencer.
He is survived by: his wife Joan; his children, Michael Hartwell (Annie), Nancy Graves Sutton (Fred) and Jody Garfield Sutton (Doug); his grandchildren, Alannah, Jacob, Nathan, Tyler, Jayvin and Leanne; his great grandchild Talen; his close friends, Delbert Reed of East Haven and Branson; and his brother Harold Hartwell (Vickie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
