He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward and Marjorie (Murphy); his former wife Shirley M Francis; and his siblings, Bill, Jon, Richard and Betty Deso.

He is survived by: his children, Robert S Thompson (Sue Sweeney), Jacqueline (Leo Steady), Patrick (Carina Thompson), Brenda (Melin Prim), Trena (Mark King) and Randall Thompson; his wife Phyllis St. Amour; his children, Cecil (Yolanda Sweeney), Charlie (Pat Sweeney), Lisa Sweeney (Dave Forkas), Laura (Buzz Sumner) and Joe Sweeney; his brother Dwight Thompson; and also Cathy. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
