He was predeceased by: his parents, George H. and Theresa Vance (Legare); his half-brother George Vance (Sparky); his siblings, Anita Klucking (Vance), Hollis Vance and William Vance (Billy); and his son-in-law Carl Henrikson.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Vance (Libby) of Groton; his daughters, Judith G. Henrikson of Chester, NH and Bonnie Vance (Dana Belisle) of Cumberland, ME; his grandchildren, Brooks, Gabe and Mariah; his son Richard Vance, Jr. (Melissa) of Bath, NH; his grandson Joshua; his brother Stuart Vance of Florida; and also, Logan and Charlotte. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and friends.
