He was predeceased by: his parents, Janette Cowan and Peter Tkatch; and his pet Meow. He is survived by: his sister Mary Tkatch Smith (Tim); his nephews, Eric (Amy) and Sean (Renee); his great-niece Maddie; his great-nephew Justin; his cousins, Jack and Diane; and his friends, Gloria Avner, Lillian Turner, Jim Lobdell, Karren Ashley, Mercedes Ruehl, Linda Varvell, Mary Lou Westerfield, Anne F. Zimmerman, Sarah Peterson Nuland, Marge Murray Roop, John Forbes, Robin Fawcett, Sarah Carleton, Ruth Wallman and Betsy Liley.
