He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin McGovern and Mary McGovern (Mahoney); his in-laws, Howard and Lynn Mace; and his brothers, Richard and Peter McGovern.
He is survived by: his children, Diane LeBlanc (Michael) of Colchester, Linda Reickert (Frank) of North Carolina, Pam Mallow (Michael) of Jericho, Carolyn Prior (David) of Jericho, James E McGovern, Jr. (Jennifer) of Essex Junction and Kevin McGovern (Christy) of South Hero; his grandchildren, Nacole Greenwood (Michael), Matthew Reickert, Michelle Boylan (Lance), Ryan Mallow (Chelsea), Jessica Place (Chad), Taylor O'Brien (Colin), DJ Prior (Rebekah), Nicholas McGovern and Macey McGovern; his great grandchildren, Cole, Kenley Greenwood, Camden, Kenzi Place, Mason, Eleanor Boylan and Chase O'Brien; his sister-in-law Alice McGovern; his nephew Todd McGovern; his nieces, Cathy McGovern and Kelli McGovern; and his friend Kathy Adams.
