He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Deth and Violet Deth (Breevort); his siblings, Albert Deth, James Deth and Dorothy Bingham; his siblings-in-law, Nathan Austin and Jane Deth (Drew); and also, Perley Austin and Bernice Austin (Smith).

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Deth (Austin) of East Burke, VT; his children, Darren Deth (Christine) of Lewiston, ME, Lisa Deth of East Burke, VT and Kim Deth of East Burke, VT; his grandchildren, Brandon Deth, Emily Deth of East Burke, VT, Briaunna Fontaine-Deth and Joshua Fontaine-Deth of Claremont, NH; his brothers, Kenneth Deth, Jr. of West Burke, VT, Walter Deth (Shirley) of Morgan, VT, David Deth of East Haven, VT and Rupert Deth (Lori) of Sutton, VT; his children-in-law, Kelly Fontaine of Claremont, NH and Clinton Matthewson of Sutton, VT; his sisters, Roberta Hinton of Sutton, VT and Jeanette Poor (Russell) of Merrimac, MA; his stepmother Elaine Deth of East Haven, VT; and his nieces and nephews, Uncle Reg Deth (Gloria) and Aunt Marjorie Deth.

He had worked as a mechanic for several years until diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009.
