He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlton Brainard and Alice Brainard (Wood); his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Gray; and his siblings, Phyllis Buchanan, Thelma Bly, Jeannette Goss and William Brainard.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Brainard (Ginette) of The Villages, FL, Barbara Musgrove (Charles) of Derby Line, VT, Gary Brainard (Mary) of Derby, VT and Marilyn Brainard of Virginia; his grandchildren, Steve Brainard (Laura), Matt Brainard (Kelly), Tricia Musgrove (Rick Desrochers) and Tamara Musgrove; his brother Myron "Toby" Brainard (Dottie) of Derby, VT; and his siblings-in-law, Sandra Carpenter of West Charleston and David Gray of Waterbury. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
