It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sam Sparhawk III of Colchester, Vermont, born in Burlington, Vermont, who passed away on November 25, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dr. Sam Sparhawk, Jr. and Mary Sparhawk (Purington); his sister Mary Frances Graham (Sparhawk); his children, Jill Scott (William), Sam Sparhawk, IV (Barbara) and Jeff Sparhawk (Sue); his grandchildren, Kelly Spiegel (Michael), Sam Sparhawk (Victoria), Kristen Sparhawk, Stefani Mortimer, Justin Sparhawk, Margaret Scott and Annabel Scott; and also Riley Spiegel. He was also cherished by 3 children and helping with seven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Sam's honor to: The Lake Champlain Committee, 208 Flynn Avenue Building #3, Studio 3F.

“It is with regret that we hear of Sam's passing. I came to know Sam and Wilma while working on boats with Pete Sparhawk and racing Sunfish. They were all mentors at Porter's Point to me as a college student. I will always cherish the memories and sailing acumen from that time at the Point. Fondly, Bob and Libbi Bergman”
