He was predeceased by: his wife Louise Carroll Hirss; his granddaughter Bailey Ann Hirss; his parents, Alma Hirss and Roberts Hirss; and his brother Ivars Hirss.
He is survived by: his sibling Latvia; his children, Carroll Sager of Hagerstown, MD, Robert Hirss of Fairfax, Ann Kalinoski of Burlington, VT and Paul Hirss of Concord; his brother Andris Hirss of Washington; his sister-in-law Holly Bowers Hirss; his children-in-law, Greg Kalinoski and Kelly Hirss; his grandchildren, Rebecca Sager, Rudy Hirss, Elizabeth Dattilio, Christopher Kalinoski, Eliza Kalinoski and Holly Mashaw; and his great grandchildren, Sophia Dattilio, Rachel Dattilio and Jayden Mashaw. He is also survived by his sister-in-law said he was always "tilting at windmills." Rudy is survived by four children.
