He was predeceased by: his brother Allen Johnson; and his granddaughter Shannon Christensen. He is survived by: his former wife Marian Johnson (Wilson); and his children, Paula Christensen, Sandy (John Davis, Dan), Brad (Amy O'Neil) and Jimmy (Denise). He is also survived by friends at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Jericho Vermont where he wished to be buried alongside his beloved grandfather.
