He was predeceased by: his siblings, Joseph, John, Kevin, Vincent, Mary Ellen and Annie.
He is survived by: his brothers, Francis Heffernan of Bristol and Timothy Heffernan of Bristol; and his sisters-in-law, Diane Heffernan, Roberta Heffernan and Judy Tasetano.
His many contributions to public education began during the 1950s, first at Richmond (Vt.) Elementary School, where he taught 8th-graders.
