He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Root and Eleanor Simmons-Bowles (Simmons); and his siblings-in-law, Mark Brocar and Rose Marie Creamer (William Creamer). He is survived by: his sons, Richie, Billy and Chuck; his close friend Bob Klunder; his wife Melanie Simmons; his son Richard Simmons Jr. (Bridget) of Bradford, VT; his grandchildren, Cooper and Charlie; his daughter Brandi Young (Shannon) of Newbury, VT; his grandchildren, Merrett, Meredith Edna, Mallari and Maleah; his daughter Katherine Wright (Micheal) of Orford, NH; his grandchildren, Shaunna Marie, Tucker and Isabella; his son William Simmons (Crystal) of Denver, NC; his grandchildren, Carter, Jordyn, Adalyn and Charles Simmons (Sara) of Bradford, VT; his great grandchildren, Makayla, Makenna, Carter, Hadlee and Landon; his niece Holly Creamer (Stephan Sampson); and his siblings-in-law, Butch Brocar (Sandi) and Becky Brocar of Bradford.
