He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Gates and Mabel Gates (Brimmer); and his daughter Larriann Marie Gates. He is survived by: his wife Catherine A. Gates of Pownal; his children, Lawrence J. Thompson Sr. (Patricia) of Pownal, Abigail Thompson of Pownal, Raymond Decker and Vivian Chandler; and his siblings, Samuel Ruggles of Hebron, NY, John Ruggles of Cambridge, NY, Francis Ormsbee of Burners Bay, NY and Lorraine Burnett of Saratoga, NY.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
