He is survived by: his wife Patricia Carpenter (Brunina); his brothers, Lawrence (Larry) and Donald Carpenter; his half-brother Robert Hill; and his sisters, Mary (James Snead) and Barbara (Daniel Sunkes). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
