He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Bonesteel Downing and Marion Downing (Taylor); his sisters, Elizabeth Kano (Downing), Myrtle Corey and Jean Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Frasier, Dr. Kanaan Kano, C. Bruce Smith, Howard F. Corey, James Feeney, Charles Taylor and Robert Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Taylor A. (Tad) and Tracy A. Bessette (Michael) of Vergennes; his grandchildren, David M. Bessette, Molly E. Downing and Owen P. Downing; his stepgranddaughter Caroline Parker; his great grandchild Harley LeSage; and his sisters-in-law, Beverly T. Feeney of Bennington, Jane Taylor of Bennington and Marguerite Jones (Peggy) of Locust Grove, VA.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home (628 Main St, Bennington, VT 05201).
