He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Mattson and Elsa Mattson (Armfelt); his wife Marjorie Mattson; his sons, Kenneth and Allan Mattson; and his brothers, Carl and Robert Mattson.
He is survived by: his daughters-in-law, Joyce Mattson of Berlin, VT and Sheila Mattson of Woodbury, VT; his grandchildren, Jodie Rouleau (Brad) of Danville, VT, Jamie Mattson of Derby, VT, Mark Mattson (Paula) of Barre Town, VT, Lori Hanchett (Tom) of Henniker, NH, Brad Mattson of Barre Town, VT and Karen Liimatainen of Berlin, VT; his great grandchildren, Ashley St. John, Alicia Atwood, Sam Mattson, Bryton Hanchett, Kirsten Hanchett, Natalie Mattson, Chloe Mattson and Ashlyn Liimatainen; and his great great grandchildren, Ava and Aiden St. John. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
