He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemond F. Bovat and Doris Bovat (Wells). He is survived by: his wife Beverly Messier; his sons, Michael Bovat (Kathleen) of Franklin, Larry Bovat (Phyllis) of East Berkshire and Robert Bovat (Heidi) of Enosburg; and his grandchildren, Deborah Domina of East Fairfield, Jennifer, Angela Bovat, George, Sierra Lacoste, Kevin Domina, Casey, Hunter, Annah and Krista Bovat.
