He was predeceased by: his brothers, Allen Spencer and Freddie Upton. He is survived by: his wife Audrey Ewell Spencer; his children, Sherrie Davis (David), Linda Smith (Christopher) and Larry Marshall; his siblings, Wanda Taylor (David), Donna Nicely (Shane), Millie Davis, Mike Spencer, Gary Spencer (Marie) and Wilford Spencer, Jr.; his grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Austin Davis, James Smith and Katie Smith; and his great grandchild Pasley Smith. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
