He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joe Preston Strait and Martha Elvira Cribbs; his wife Melba; his children, Joe, Martha Strait Buff (Terry), Margaret Strait Reed (late Jim Reed), Maria Strait Carroll (Harry) and John Leonard Strait, Jr. (Joyce); his daughter-in-law Jeri Lynn Strait (late Joe Preston Strait); his grandchildren, Matthew Cassidy, Eva Christine Montero, Peter Cassidy (Michelle), Andrew Cassidy, Charity Strait Wright, Jennifer Strait Corley (TJ), Christopher Hoscheid (Christine), Jessica Strait Easterling (Robert), Katherine Strait Dixon (Josh), James Norman Strait, Audra Carroll, Harry Carroll and Mindy Carroll; and his siblings, Lindsy Dean Strait of Tacoma and Joann Strait Duffy of Rifle. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
