He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ernest DeVites, Sr. and Martha Ann Turner DeVites; and his son-in-law Jeff David Bess. He is survived by: his wife Lanna Faye Collins DeVites; his children, Kimberly DeVites Bess and John Ernest DeVites, III (Lindsey Hooper); his grandchildren, Danielle Taylor Bess, Jeffrey Tyler Bess (Maddie) and Kalyn Marie DeVites; his sisters, Lisa A. Mooney (Mark) and Judy L. Winkler (Dana); his aunt Eunice Jones; and his cousin Sharon Jones.
