He is survived by: his wife Patricia Shermer; his children, Charles Shermer (Janet), Kelly Wood (Thomas), Christine White and Thomas Shermer; and his siblings, Talmadge Shermer of Winston Salem, NC, Diane Williams (Don) of West Lafayette, IN, Jane Smith of Winston Salem, NC and Cathy Pauley of Winston Salem, NC..
