He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harvey Bland and Eunice Bland (Major); and his children, Elisabeth, Charles and Joel (Kathleen). He was also cherished by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his brother, Buddy.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Samuel's name may be made to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
