We are sad to announce that on January 22, 2025, at the age of 70, Kathy Rae (McElroy) Dunaway (Yorktown, Virginia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Kathy Rae may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.

She was predeceased by: her parents, David Raymond McElroy and Kathern Ellen Richardson (Beeson); and her siblings, Sharon Kay Butler and David Milton McElroy. She is survived by: her husband Gary Howard Dunaway; her daughters, Wendy Alena Daughtrey of Yorktown and Krystall Emily Dunaway of Virginia Beach; her grandchildren, Haleigh Rae Daughtrey and Brandon Lee Daughtrey of Yorktown; and her brother Robert McElroy of Geneva, Alabama..
