He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl A. Smoot, Sr. and Frankie H. Smoot; his siblings, Earl Smoot, Jr. (Mildred Sweeney), Howard Smoot, Sr. (Pauline Lawson), Robert Smoot, Sr. and Aileen Lewis (Gerald Smoot); his wife June Elkins Smoot; his former wife Ethel Bellamy Smoot; and his stepson Steve Bellamy.
He is survived by: his daughters, Connie Reynolds (Lonnie) and Pam McFall (Kirk); his son-in-law Phillip Worthy; his sister-in-law Janice Oliver (John McPherson); his son Mark Bellamy (Robin); and his granddaughter Angie Knowles (Richard). He is also survived by brother-in-law, as well as countless nieces and nephews.
