He is survived by: his wife Merle Sammons Ivey; his children, Dennis Ivey, Jr. (Karen) and Jodi Swindle (Jay); his grandchildren, Katey Rott (Greg), Kelly Ripley (Dan), Jackson Swindle and Samuel Swindle; his great grandchild Benjamin Rott; his sister-in-law Joan Bement Tokarz; his nieces and nephews, Cary Bement Kelly (Kevan), Maxwell Kelly and Tracie Larkin (Mike); and his cousins, Dan Hall (Angela), Kinsey Hall and Biker.

“We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Dennis. I have so many fond memories from the time I worked with him and for him at the Daily Press. He helped me get my feet on the ground and I knew that if I could duplicate his work ethic that I too would be successful. We traveled together, hunted together and shared a lot of good times. He was someone that I always looked up to. Merle, Denny and Jodi you have our deepest sympathy. He was one of the best. Gene and Debbie Hogge”
