It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Blaine Smith of Wytheville, Virginia, who passed away on November 29, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Sarah Stowers Smith; and his siblings, Earl, Fairie, Anne, Lucille, Susie and Jane.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Wolfe Smith; his children, Blaine (Irene Smith), David Smith, John Lesley (Carlie Smith), Donna Smith, Pat (Bill Tarry) and Betty Sue Morehead; his grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Will, Ryan, Katie, David, Lincoln, Illeana and Odin; his great grandchildren, Hayden, Hayley, Hannah, Jackson, Dawson, Hunter of Jaycee, R. J. and Lili; his sister Helen Williams; and his brother-in-law Robert Gross. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel (2508 Walkers Creek Valley Rd, Pearisburg, VA 24134). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Shiloh Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Smith family suggests memorial donations be made in John's honor to Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 1155 N 4th St., Wytheville, VA 24382.
