He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Amos Hurd and Vergie Gibson Hurd; his son Archie Whitt; his wife Clara Hurd; his children, Newton Hurd Jr., Glenn Hurd, Nancy Hurd and Candice Haley; and his sisters, Versa Painter and Joyce Edmonds. He was also cherished by 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
