He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Don Blanton Sr. and Olivette Hawkins Blanton; and his sister Rebecca Elaine Blanton Whitaker. He is survived by: his wife Merle Ann Blanton; his son Don Alan Blanton; and his grandchildren, Avery, Chase and Eliza. He is also survived by four nieces and three nephews.
