She was predeceased by: her husband George Robert Carter, Jr.; her son Billy Jack Carter; her stepfather Charles; her father Valentine Sauer; her brothers, Emil, Jacob, Berthold and Wolfgang Sauer; and her siblings-in-law, Nancy Carey, Tommy, Billy and Jimmy Carter.

She is survived by: her daughters, Waltraud Barbara Poorman (Robert O'Neill) of Miami Springs, Rebecca Ann Carter-Nutter (Jeff) of Edinburg, VA. and Tracy P. Miller (Rick) of Edinburg, VA.; her daughter-in-law Selesta Carter of Maurertown, VA.; her grandchildren, Tyler Poorman, Molly Poorman, Samantha Poorman Daley (Brian), Shawn Gallo, Billy Jack Dakota Carter, Perla Torres (Johnny), Mariana Kamphues (Hans), Tanner Orndorff, Abbie Williams (Faheem) and Katie Funkhouser; her great grandchildren, Bela Vasquez, Samuel Torres, Christian Torres and Carter Orndorff; her siblings, Waltraud Schneider (Erich) of Germany, Gerhard Sauer of Texas, Herbert and Detlef Sauer of Florida; and her siblings-in-law, Brigitte Sauer of Germany, Marjorie Sauer of Florida, Elizabeth Ann Hinderer of Florida, Judy Carter, Inez Coffman of Virginia and Ronald Carter of South Carolina. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The Family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. John Bosco Catholic Church Building Maintenance Fund, 315 N. Main Street, Woodstock, Va. 22664 or the ALS Association, 130 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600, Arlington, VA. 22209 (donations@alsa- national.org).

Jo Ann Poe wrote a sympathy message

“I have a lovely, Hercules bicycle with a basket in front. I am going to fill it with flowers for you, Else. Daisies first, maybe. I do hope, Else, that you will join my Austrian mom, her sister, and others when I hold my next garden party for great women in heaven. Just look for the lights under my big, red, umbrella. You can see my place from Heaven.”
