He is survived by: his children, Alicia Deakins (Joseph) of Burlington, NC, Patricia Shelton of Harrisonburg, Mary Ellen Phillips of Mt Jackson and Charles D Phillips (Kristin) of Hillsborough, NC.; his grandchildren, Joseph Deakins (Rebecca), Jackson Phillips and Madison Phillips; and his great grandchildren, Samuel and Ruby Deakins.
