She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Vashie and Grace Bell Mamoran Dheel; her husband Newton T. Hurd, Sr.; her son Archie Whitt; and her siblings, Anna May, Bonnie Lou, Grace Earnistine, Frank and George.
She is survived by: her children, Newton Hurd, Jr., Glenn Hurd, Nancy Hurd and Candice Haley. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Fairview, or Blue Ridge Hospice.
