We are sad to announce that on February 24, 2025, at the age of 85, Dorothy Mae Carper of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the vast expanse of eternity, Dorothy Mae shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Dorothy Mae farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Combs and Alice Edwards Combs; and her husband Benny Carper. She is survived by: her children, Cathy Kellis of Woodlawn, Virginia, Susan (Anthony Oliver), Cynthia (Earl Coleman) and Anthony (Tony); her daughter-in-law Rhonda Carper of Galax, Virginia; and her sisters, Faye Spears of Woodlawn, Virginia and Eileen Dillard of Woodlawn, Virginia. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home (201 W Center St, Galax, VA 24333). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel (201 W Center St, Galax, VA 24333).
