He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Layne Sr. and Birdie Wright Layne; and his daughter Carolyn Louise Layne. He is survived by: his wife Mildred Louise Funk Layne of Woodlawn; his son Douglas Layne of Woodlawn; his grandson Matthew Layne of Michigan; and his siblings, Margeret Layne of Eden, Dean (Shirley Layne) and James (Rachel Layne). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
