He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Monroe and Rosa Lee Monroe; his sons, Ernest G. Samuel Sr. and Bernard L. Samuel; his wife Cora Samuel Monroe; and his siblings, Roosevelt, Willis, Thomas, Julian, Leroy Monroe Jr., Anna of Washington, Elizabeth Rock and Mary Mallory.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia A. Walker (James), Connie R. Gray (Rodney), Elsa J. Monroe, Yvonne S. Smith and Sylvester S. Samuel; his brother Walter Monroe (Judy); his aunt Celia Anne Smith; his brother-in-law Brent Childs (Ann); and his daughter-in-law Jairline Samuel. He is also survived by niece, nephews and other relatives, and friends.
Interment will follow in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery, 17080 S. River Rd, Woodford, VA 22580, Family is requesting all attendees to wear a mask or face covering due to COVID-19.
