He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Earl Trotter and Margaret Allaine Trotter (Kirchner); and his sister Susan Gaye Trotter. He is survived by: his siblings, Linda Trotter and Robert Trotter; and his nieces, Kelli Brosnan and Devin Brosnan.

In 2013 he moved back here to the Woodbridge, VA area and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014.
