Gordon R. Tassi Obituary
Gordon R. Tassi, Vietnam Veteran and retired Federal employee of Woodbridge/Dumfries, VA passed on May 20, 2023, at the age of 84.
Gordon was born to Roy and Yola Cervelli Tassi on November 6, 1938 in San Jose CA., where he was raised with his brother Carl.
After graduating in 1960 from Santa Clara University he was commissioned in the U.S. Army where he served for 10 years, to include one tour in Vietnam. After his military service he was an instructor and football coach at Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, KS., and then a Crime Prevention Officer in Tracy, CA., he then entered into Federal service. Gordon retired from the General Services Administration as an emergency response planner and a member of the National Response Team.
Gordon enjoyed his retirement and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manassas where he chaired the annual festival for many years as he had previously done at Holy Family Catholic Church, Dale City. He was also a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees organization. Gordon enjoyed volunteer work with the Vietnam Veterans Association and the Freedom Museum in Manassas Virginia. Gordon took pleasure in traveling to Canada, Ireland and to visit family and friends in Italy.
He married his wife Ruby in 1960 and they welcomed five children, each of whom was born in five different states. Gordon is survived by his wife Ruby of 63 years; his children Brian, Bridget, Diedre, Jennifer, and Kevin; grandchildren, Christopher, Samantha, Helina and Sierra and great-grandchildren; Ender, Benjamin, Rafaela and Emma. He is also survived by his brother, Carl. He was preceeded in death by his granddaughter Corinne.
Visitation is on 31 May from 6:30pm to 9 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd. in Woodbridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on 1 June at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12975 Purcell Rd, Manassas. Internment will take place following the Mass at Quantico National Cemetery at 1pm. The family invites you to join them for a funeral reception after the internment at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
