He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Ralph Sykes and Easter Lillie Phillips; his son Edward Scott Sykes; and his brother James Lee Sykes (Luisa Sykes). He is survived by: his wife Joyce Basham Sykes; his daughter Sandra Sykes Wells; his granddaughter Jessica Brynn Bonssdorf (Doran); his siblings, Loretta Sykes Thomas (Bill Thomas), C. Ralph Sykes Jr. (Jenny Sykes) and Jerry Cochran of North Carolina; and also, Odin and Luna Bonssdorf.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. (3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, VA 22192). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
